Peckham Perspective

Peckham Perspective

A community art exhibition celebrating Peckham's voices
Peckham Arches, Blenheim Grove, London, SE15 4QN
August 15th - 22nd 2024

The vibrant voices of Peckham come to life in the form of colourful letterpress prints, in a unique
celebration of community spirit through Peckham Perspective – an exhibition created by Michelle
Dwyer of Nice & Graphic studio, Peckham.

Peckham Perspective highlights the diverse voices that make up our neighbourhood. Through
conversations held during community days at local charities and organizations, interviews with
small business owners, and others who spend their days on Rye Lane, plus questionnaires circulated
on social media — Michelle has curated hundreds of statements illustrating how people think and
feel about their community. Phrases, thoughts and stories about Peckham were selected and
letterpress printed by hand onto colourful gradients, offering a kaleidoscope of perspectives that
reflect the beating heart of Peckham.

50% of the profits generated from the exhibition will be donated to PECAN; a local charity
celebrating 35 years of fighting poverty in Southwark.

Peckham Perspective is an immersive transformation of the Peckham Arches gallery; the walls and
floor are covered in a tapestry of vivid gradients and bold typography; colours bleed and clash,
creating an electrifying experience of the space. Expect to want to take time to read everyoneʼs
thoughts on Peckham, and maybe even take a photo of yourself in the dynamic space. All the prints
will be for sale, which will be great for any Peckham
residents and admirers who want a piece of Peckham on their wall.

Michelle has lived and worked in Peckham for almost 13 years and started Nice & Graphic
Letterpress Studio in 2020. Her work is characterised by its bold hand-mixed gradient colours,
uncomplicated strong typography and a hopeful outlook on the world. Sheʼs passionate about
working with the community, often holding workshops and open days for marginalised, elderly
and neurodivergent members of the Peckham community.

The beauty of this project is in its inclusivity and thereʼs still time to be a part of this collective
narrative. Visit www.peckhamperspective.com and share your thoughts on Peckham.
